How to Get More Book Reviews Using This Simple 3-Step DM Strategy

Every author dreams of seeing glowing reviews roll in, but most don’t realize that getting reviews isn’t luck—it’s strategy. The key is building real relationships with reviewers, not spamming them with copy-paste messages. A genuine, thoughtful DM can open doors faster than any paid promotion. Here’s a simple 3-step approach that works. Step 1: Start with genuine connection Before asking for anything, take time to engage with the reviewer’s content. Like, comment, or share something they’ve posted. When you finally DM them, start with appreciation. Example: “Hi [Name], I love your book reviews, especially the one you did on [Book Title]. Your insights really hit home.” Step 2: Introduce your book naturally Once you’ve established warmth, talk about your book in a way that feels conversational, not salesy. Example: “I recently published a novel called [Book Title]. It’s about [brief theme or hook]. I thought it might be something you’d genuinely enjoy reviewing.” Step 3: Offer value, n...

How to Get More Readers to Notice Your Book in 2025

Writing a book is tough, but getting people to actually notice it can feel even harder. The truth is, great books don’t sell themselves anymore. Readers have endless choices, so if you want yours to stand out, you need more than just talent, you need strategy. The key to attracting readers is connection. People buy books from authors they feel connected to. That means showing up on social media not just as a seller, but as a storyteller. Share your writing journey, the struggles behind the pages, the lessons your story teaches. Let readers see the person behind the book, not just the product. Next, think community, not just promotion. Join groups where your ideal readers hang out, talk about topics related to your book, and offer real value. When people trust your voice, they’ll naturally want to read what you’ve written. And finally, never underestimate consistency. Marketing isn’t a one-time push, it’s a steady rhythm of visibility, authenticity, and engagement. Even small daily acti...

HOW TO GET BOOK REVIEWS THAT DRIVE SALES FOR SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHORS

If you’re a self-published author you know that reviews aren’t just nice to have, they’re essential. Reviews build trust, improve visibility, and help your book stand out in a crowded market. But getting reviews that actually sell books takes strategy, authenticity and persistence. First, make sure your book is ready for reviews. A clean, professional cover, a compelling description and a well-edited manuscript show you’re serious. Without that foundation your review outreach will fall flat.  Next, leverage your existing network. Reach out to early readers, friends, colleagues and ask if they’d consider leaving an honest review. Make it easy: provide direct links to the review page, tell them how to find the form, and gently remind them after a week or two if they haven’t posted one.  Then widen your reach. Engage with book bloggers and reviewers in your genre. Join relevant reader-groups or forums. Offer free advance reading copies (ARCs) to get early feedback and reviews ahe...

HOW TO BUILD A BOOK THAT SELLS

You’ve written a beautiful book. You’ve spent sleepless nights pouring your heart into every page, and you finally hit “publish.” You wait for the sales to roll in, checking your dashboard every few hours, but nothing happens. Days turn into weeks, and still, crickets. You start to wonder, “Why isn’t my book selling?” The truth is, most authors don’t fail because their books are bad. They fail because they don’t understand how to sell them. Writing is an art, but marketing is the bridge that connects that art to readers. If your masterpiece isn’t getting the attention it deserves, you might be falling into one or more of these common traps. 1. THINKING THE BOOK WILL SELL ITSELF Many authors believe that once a book hits the shelves, readers will magically find it. Sadly, it doesn’t work that way. Your book isn’t competing with a few others, it’s competing with millions. Without consistent promotion, even a brilliant story can vanish into the noise. You must be the loudest voice cheerin...

WHY WRITING IS ONLY HALF THE BATTLE: THE TRUTH ABOUT BOOK PROMOTION

Every author dreams of finishing their book, hitting publish, and watching readers rush in. But reality often feels different. The sales are slow, the visibility is low, and the excitement fades fast. The truth is, writing your book is only half the battle. The other half is learning how to make people care enough to read it. THE MYTH OF “IF YOU WRITE IT, THEY WILL COME” Many writers believe their work will speak for itself. It won’t. Thousands of books are released every day, and readers can’t find yours unless you show it to them. Book promotion isn’t vanity, it’s visibility. You aren’t bragging, you’re helping your audience discover something they might love. PROMOTION STARTS BEFORE YOU PUBLISH One of the biggest mistakes authors make is waiting until launch day to start promoting. The best time to build excitement is while you’re still writing. Talk about your journey, share snippets, ask for opinions, and let readers feel part of the process. That connection becomes the foundation...

WHY MOST AUTHORS FAIL AT BOOK PROMOTION (AND HOW TO AVOID IT)

Most authors believe that once their book is published, readers will magically appear. The harsh truth is, that rarely happens. Writing a great book is only half the journey. The other half, and often the harder one, is getting people to actually know it exists. Let’s talk honestly about why so many authors fail at promoting their books and what you can do differently to succeed. THEY RELY TOO MUCH ON HOPE Many writers assume that quality alone will attract readers. But even the best book in the world won’t sell if no one knows about it. Promotion isn’t about begging for attention, it’s about making sure your message reaches the right audience. Hope is not a strategy, visibility is. THEY MARKET TO EVERYONE Trying to sell your book to everyone means you’ll likely sell to no one. Readers are specific people with specific interests. Your goal isn’t to reach the world, it’s to reach your world. Know who your audience is, what they care about, and where they spend time online. Tailor your m...

STOP WASTING MONEY ON FACEBOOK ADS: THE #1 MISTAKE AUTHORS MAKE

Every author dreams of seeing their book soar to the top of the charts, but too many fall into the same expensive trap, throwing money at Facebook ads that barely move the needle. If you’ve ever spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars trying to “boost visibility” and ended up with little to show for it, this one’s for you. Let’s be honest. Facebook ads can work, but not for everyone, and certainly not without the right foundation. The truth is, most authors jump straight into paid ads before they’ve done the groundwork that makes any marketing campaign successful. They skip the storytelling, the connection, and the strategy that actually sells books. WHY YOUR FACEBOOK ADS ARE FAILING When you pay for Facebook ads without a plan, you’re basically throwing cash into the digital void. Facebook’s algorithm doesn’t care about your book, it cares about data. If you don’t know your audience, their pain points, and what kind of message will resonate with them, your ad will blend into the n...

HOW AUTHORS CAN GROW THEIR AUDIENCE

Every author dreams of having a loyal audience that genuinely connects with their words. But building that kind of following takes more than just writing a great book, it takes strategy, consistency, and engagement. Start by knowing your readers. Understand what they love, what problems they face, and what kind of stories or lessons move them. Once you know this, tailor your content to speak directly to them. Share snippets of your work, behind-the-scenes moments, and insights about your writing journey. People don’t just buy books, they buy connection. Use social media wisely. Choose one or two platforms where your ideal readers spend time and show up there consistently. Engage with comments, join conversations, and share content that adds value. Building an audience is not about shouting louder, it’s about showing up authentically. Finally, build an email list. Social media can change overnight, but your email list is yours to keep. Offer something valuable, like a free chapter or gu...

Why Great Books Alone Don’t Sell Themselves

Many authors believe that once they publish their book, success will naturally follow. They imagine sales rolling in, readers leaving glowing reviews, and their book gaining momentum on its own. But the truth is, publishing is only the first step, not the finish line. The most successful authors don’t wait for readers to find them, they go out and meet their readers where they are. They build communities, start conversations, and show up consistently, even when no one seems to notice at first. One of the biggest mistakes new authors make is focusing all their energy on writing and almost none on visibility. You can have the most powerful story in the world, but if people don’t know it exists, it won’t reach them. So, instead of spending every moment perfecting your manuscript, dedicate time to learning how to share it. Talk about your ideas online, join writing groups, connect with other authors, and let people see your creative process. The more readers connect with you, the more they...

writing and publishing

I remember when I was writing my first book with so much joy, hope, and aspiration, I was so excited. By the time I reached the final chapter, I was so happy about the completion of my book.  With fingers crossed, I uploaded it on Amazon, hoping it would get accepted and not blocked. After so much back and forth, changing cover size, adjusting spine size, and so much stress, my book finally got accepted and approved.  After a few weeks of refreshing my dashboard with zero sales, my joy turned into horror, my hope turned into disappointment. I became frustrated and tired.  But after so much time, I've learned how to finally promote my books well and make good sales. I've also gotten a good number of audience, and I've taught authors close to me my techniques of writing and promoting.  I then thought of other authors and writers who are going through what I went through, so I decided to put in all my knowledge into one book, and here's the final product. 👉  Get y...

You Wrote the Book. Now How Do You Get People to Read It?

Image
When you first pour your heart onto the page and finally type "The End," you feel that rush of accomplishment. You've done the hardest part. You upload your book, hit "Publish," and then you wait. You envision the reviews pouring in, the sales climbing, and the messages from grateful readers filling your inbox. But for so many of us, that's not what happens. I've been there. I remember checking my sales dashboard only to see zero. Day after day. It’s disheartening. It makes you feel like maybe your book wasn't good enough, or maybe the publishing dream just isn't for you. You start jumping from one confusing piece of advice to another, hoping for that magical "breakthrough" that never seems to arrive. It’s easy to feel frustrated and alone, but please know this: it’s not a reflection of your book's quality. It's a reflection of how tough the publishing world is now, and how much you have to learn about connecting with readers. I...
